Double Sided Security Glazing Foam Tape
We have two types of Security Glazing
Foam in our range. To help you select the correct product for your application,
we have given some features, advantages and benefit of each product.

1. FoamLink double
sided Polyolefin (PE) foam
Unique to UK Industrial Tapes, FoamLink
is a double sided, double coated medium / high density closed cell polyolefin
85kg and 67kg (PE) foam. FoamLink comprises a 100% acrylic adhesive mass,
which is coated onto a primed high-density polyolefin foam substrate using
the latest UV/EB beam curing technology. This unique combination results
in a product, which has a very good cohesive strength and exceptionally
high tack. It is completely inert, free from solvents and will not out-gas
or bleed plasticisers. Some of the advantages of Foamlink are listed below.
- FoamLink carries a greater adhesive thickness than
most PE foam tapes, giving a higher initial tack and a greater long-term
bond strength on a high quality silicon paper or filmic liner.
- The 65gm of Acrylic adhesive used has high resistance
to extremes of temperature and can be applied in temperatures as low
as minus 20 degrees without any detrimental effects to the performance
of the product.
- The 85kg and 67kg closed cell PE foam carrier offers
excellent sealing dampening and vibration absorption capabilities, ensuring
that bonds remain secure even in extreme conditions.
- FoamLink is ideally suited to bonding difficult
and dissimilar surfaces including glass, ceramics, metals, many plastics
and even powder coated finishes.
- FoamLink has great resistance to environmental factors
such as Ultra Violet light, temperature and moisture and is therefore
an excellent choice for all external and internal glazing applications.
- Our product has been tested and approved to BS7950
British standard 3 minute intruder test & weathering BS6375
2. Double Sided
PVC Foam
We manufacture our own Double Sided
PVC Foam Tape. We coat our Foam with 80gms of solvent acrylic adhesive.
The adhesive on the exposed side is
coated with 50gms of our Solvent Acrylic Adhesive system. This ensures
an excellent bond to the PVC Sash and Frame. The adhesive on the liner
side is 30gms of a Solvent Acrylic Adhesive system, which we have found
is excellent to adhere to glass.
The security glazing foam in the UK
has mainly been PVC based, the reasons for this are as follows:
- To set up a coating line for the PVC will cost approximately
50-150K, which is relatively inexpensive.
- To set up a coating line for the PE will cost approximately
1 million pounds.
- The main supply chain of PVC is in Italy, so it
is close to the UK.
- The main suppliers of PE are based in the USA.
When we manufacture our PVC Foam tape,
we always achieve good anchorage of the adhesive to the foam to stop adhesive
delamination from the foam.
We also coat the foam with 80 grams
of a very aggressive solvent adhesive system to ensure an excellent bond
to the sash & frame and the glass.
We also have available a 33kg PE with
solvent acrylic BS7950 graded, along with a hot melt adhesive version
to compliment our range.
Prices are available upon request and slit stock can be held on self upon
request.

FoamLink is a double coated, closed cell PE foam
tape ideally suited to bonding difficult and dissimilar surfaces
including metals, ceramics, plastics and even painted and powder
coated finishes, making it the ideal choice for glazing applications.
It has a higher coat weight of adhesive than existing products,
giving it a higher initial tack (even in temperatures of minus 20
degrees), and a greater long-term bond.
The PE foam construction provides excellent conformability
and is ideal for rough, uneven and unstructured surfaces. In addition
the foam offers excellent sealing, and vibration absorption ensuring
that bonded joints remain permanently secure even in difficult and
exacting applications.

We coat our PVC Foam with a solvent
acrylic adhesive system. We are one of the largest manufacturers of PVC
Security Glazing Foam in the UK. We manufacture all our foam products
to ISO 9002 performance standard. Our security glazing foam has an excellent
solvent acrylic system, which we coat with 50gms on the open side and
30gms on the closed side of adhesive to 220/250kg PVC foam.To produce
a security glazing foam that will give you optimum application and field
performance, you need to achieve: -
- Excellent adhesive anchorage to the PVC foam, this
is achieved by using the most up to date comprehensive coating machinery
available.
- Using the correct solvent acrylic adhesive at the
correct coat weight that will give you the correct peel, shear and tensile
strengths.
We have spent many years developing
our PVC Security Glazing Foam and it is now as good, if not better than
any other product available in the UK today.Features, Advantages and Benefits
of our PVC Security Glazing Foam are: -
